Introduction to IELTS

What is IELTS?
IELTS is abbreviation of international english language testing system. The test types are divided into two categories General and academic. And it consists of four modules be it general or academic. The total time taken for IELTS exam is about 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Listening,Reading,Writing,Speaking.
candidate's english is being tested in each module in different ways for each respective modules.

1) Listening
In listening test a candidate will be given a question paper containing about 40 questions(normally). He/She has to listen to the tape and answer accordingly  
Listening test will take about 40minutes.

2)Reading
In reading test a candidate will be given 3 passages or more (if general category). And will be given 40 questions(normally). And candidate has to find the answers from the paragraphs in the passages. It is like comprehension exercise taken in schools. This test takes exactly 1hours.

3)writing
In writing in Academic category if candidate is writing the exam, there are two parts he/she has to complete task1 and task2. In task1 he/she has to describe a graph in 150 lines and in task2 candidate has to write a 250 words essay. This test takes exactly 1 hours.

4)Speaking
In speaking test candidate has to face an interview consist of three parts.
1) introductory questions 2)cue-card 3)counter questions.
These questions are always about general life and not very technical or from any particular field that you have to have knowledge about that.

This test takes approximately 15 minutes but still it depends upon the examiner he can take more time and ask more questions.
